Winning It Big Empty
PostSubject: Winning It Big   Winning It Big EmptyMon Dec 23, 2013 3:20 pm

It's just two days before Christmas and the fans in the Webster Bank Arena are on their feet for another action packed night of Raw! It's midway through the show, and as Michael Cole, King, and Jim Ross are babbling on about some stupid brand name product, Cody Rhodes' theme song hits the PA system.

The audience goes nuts as the former champion steps out onto the stage. His fans are delighted to see him after his sudden and unexplained absence this past week and a half. Cody smiles big as he begins to walk down the ramp, slapping a few hands on his way.

He grips the middle rope and uses it to pull himself up onto the apron, nodding his head before entering the ring. Once inside he takes a lap, climbing up onto each turnbuckle before requesting a mic from the ringside area. He then let's the cheers die down a bit before beginning to speak.

Cody
Eh . . . You know, this past week has been really . . . What's the word I'm looking for? Ugh, well, let's just say it's sucked. First and foremost, let me tell you all why exactly I've been out of action for the past two weeks. During my ladder match with Fandango two weeks ago I hurt my shoulder pretty badly. The doctor said that I should take a bit of time off to let it heal, but I told him there was no way I was going to miss my Final Resolution match with Dolph Ziggler. THEN, I was having some issues with my contract. Stephanie, surprise surprise, has no idea what she's doing and somehow managed to screw things up with contract. So yes, to those who were wondering, for a temporary time I was no longer a part of the WCF roster! But don't worry, we managed to sort things out, and as long as Stephanie keeps her stupid, stupid, hands away from anything that has to do with actual work, everything will be just fine! So yeah, we got all of that out of the way. My shoulder was feeling better, I had a brand new contract and then . . . Brad Maddox happened! The first thing I hear when I show up at the arena for SmackDown! that week, is that I've got to defend my Intercontinental Championship, the same one that I had only JUST won three days earlier, in a LADDER match, against THREE other superstars. I wasn't exactly happiest guy in the world at this point. But hey, I'm a fighting champion, so I went charging in head first and what do you think happened? My shoulder was the focal point for all three of my challengers. By the end of the match I could barely even lift my arm up. And wouldn't you know it, super Cena came to save the day, not even pinning me to win MY championship. So there I was, my arm a mangled mess and a title no longer around my waist. It wasn't a big shock when the doctor wouldn't clear me to compete at Final Resolution. Despite my best attempts to get them to reconsider, I was benched. For that entire week! And of course, as soon as I tune in to watch Raw the next night, I see Dolph Ziggler, parading around the ring acting like he's king of the mountain. Saying that I was "too scared" to come and face him. Well Dolph, you and I both know the truth, and it's that you got darn lucky. Because even with my messed up shoulder, I would have ended your career faster than the Big Show inhales a big mac, and that's pretty damn fast. But Dolph, if you ever decide that you want to put your money where your mouth is and actually take me on, you know just where to find me, my friend.

Cody laughs to himself as he walks a few steps to his left, rubbing his chin all the while. He then shakes and his head and continues on.

Cody
Now that's all in the past. And I'm not looking to dwell on anything that happened. I'm looking to the future, and boy is my future looking bright! The annual Royal Rumble event is just four short week away, four weeks! You could also say that it's just four short weeks until Cody Rhodes wins the Royal Rumble and moves on to headline Wrestlemania! Man, that just sounds right, doesn't it? If you didn't quite understand what I just said folks, Cody Rhodes, that's me, is an official competitor in the 2014 Royal Rumble match! I, alongside countless others, will be fighting for the chance to cement our legacy in this business, to headline the big one. Wrestlemania! And while I do wish all of the other competitors good luck, it's going to be me winning it big. That's not wishful thinking, it's not a promise, no, it's fact. I'm going to the Royal Rumble to win. And anyone who gets in my way, friend or foe, will be sorry. Today, my reign of bad luck ends, and my road to Wrestlemania begins!

Cody once again nods his head up and down as he lays his microphone down in the corner. He then takes off his shirt and tosses it off to the side, awaiting the arrival of his opponent.
