Closing it down Empty
PostSubject: Closing it down   Closing it down EmptyFri Jul 19, 2013 4:20 pm

Tony: Well, folks, I'm sitting here with a sad heart today.  Excuse me if I get a little bit emotional tonight as I call the action as it comes into your living rooms, but, as many of you know, this is the last episode of WCW that will ever be broadcast.  We've seen some epic battles here on Nitro and Thunder, but all good things must come to an end.  Bobby, what are your thoughts?

Bobby: Look Tony, we don't see eye to eye very often.  But tonight isn't about us, or, it is, but it's about all of us and all of you at home.  We've striven to bring you the best wrestling action each and every week, but in the end, it just wasn't enough to stand up to the McMahon empire.  I don't want to point fingers, but ever since that snake Cody had his Giant chokeslam Bischoff straight to hell, this place just hasn't felt like home.  Tony, I've enjoyed working with you each night here on Monday Night Nitro and I hope that we can do tonight's final card justice.

Thanks Bobby, I appreciate your kind words, and talk about a final card.  We've got Magnus vs. Chris Jericho, Curtis Axel vs. John Morrison, and that Giant, Paul Wight, you referenced earlier is taking on Randy Orton for a third time.  Talk about a grudge match.  This time though, Dolph Ziggler has somehow snaked his way into the match as the special referee.  I don't like Wight's chances on this one.

And that's not all Tony, we kick things off tonight with Justin Gabriel taking on CM Punk, and we end tonight's broadcast with a dream match as Bad Influence takes on Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler.  These are the four men who will vie for the WCW championship at the Bash at the Beach on Sunday, and if the last few weeks are any indication, there's bad blood all over the place.  Alright ladies and gentlemen, here we go let's get rea-

Bobby is cut off by the Nature Boy's theme music.

What the hell is this?  Ric Flair?  I knew he had stock in WCW, but we haven't seen him on TV since the show's inception.

Flair enters but isn't doing his signature strut nor is he playing for the crowd.  He walks down to the ring, climbs the steps and enters.  He looks out at the crowd who are chanting "Flair, Flair, Flair".  He begins speaking.

The crowd is loving everything that Flair is saying.  His emotion is honest and heartfelt.  All the viewers at home are entranced by Flair's passion.  Suddenly...

You've got to be kidding me.  Seriously?  This jerk is interrupting this?

I'll tell you what Tony, I kind of agree with you.  This is no place for Dolph Ziggler.  This is a historic night, and he's been a huge part of this company, but depriving us of Flair's final speech?  That's just, that's -

It's a monstrosity that's what it is Bobby.  You've spent months defending this loser, and now even you can't spin this nonsense into something positive.

Flair, amazed that he is being cut off, stares up at Dolph as he enters from the back and smirks at the crowd.  For a moment, the crowd is stunned into silence, and then the boos come.  Hard, vicious, hateful boos.  This isn't a crowd booing someone because they are a heel, this is the kind of boos Roger Clemens heard when he went to the Yankees.  The arena can barely contain the crowd's anger.  All of their rage, their seething hate, is directed at Dolph, and he looks as though he is lapping it up.

He spins on the stage, his arms wide, a huge smirk plastered on his face.  He begins to speak, but the boos drown him out.  He bows, once, twice, and tries speaking again.  Again, he cannot be heard.  "I'll wait" he shouts at the crowd, "I've got all night".  He glances at his watch and leans against the set as the boos rain down.  A minute passes, and another.  Some fans begin throwing plastic cups of beer at the stage.  Flair continues to stare daggers at Dolph.  Finally, the volume begins to slacken a bit, and Dolph begins speaking.  He can still only just be heard.

Dolph: Wow, what a reaction.  I certainly didn't expect that.  Thank you.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The crowd boos even more.

But, I didn't come out here to be appreciated.  This isn't "Dolph Ziggler: This Is Your Life".  I didn't come out here so that you fans could applaud me for my dedicated service to this company.  I didn't interrupt Old Man Flair over here so that you guys could have one last opportunity to appreciate my greatness.  No, I came out here because tonight is the last night of WCW Nitro, and instead of having me stealing the show, we've got this old wind bag out here talking our ear off and practically crying in the ring.  Boo hoo Nature Boy, boo fricking hoo.  Your little business venture didn't make it.  You don't have anyone else to blame but yourself.  You hired all the best talent, I mean I'm here, so...., but you just couldn't make it work.  You went up against a juggernaut in the McMahon's and you failed.  It's ok Naitch, you couldn't get the job done when it counted, but don't make us listen to you go on and on and on about it.  It's our last night here Ric.  People don't want to see washed up superstars lamenting their poor financial management skills.  They want to see young, exciting superstars like the Rising Son leave it all in that ring one last time.

The crowd boos as Ziggler disrespects Flair.

Well, for some of these guys it's going to be one last time.  For me, it's just the end of another AMAZING chapter of my unbelievable life.

You see Ric, I already signed a new contract with the WWE.  In fact, I signed that contract a few weeks ago when I saw the writing on the wall.  When that idiot Cody Rhodes took over, I knew that this place was going down the toilet, I just didn't think it would be this fast.  Now, I know all of you are wondering, "But Dolph what does that mean for your matches tonight and for The Bash at the Beach?  You are going to still be giving us the best damn show in town right?".  Rest easy folks, rest easy.  DZ wouldn't leave you high and dry.  Well, actually, I would, but I want to leave this company with that WCW championship strapped around my waist, so of course I'm going to compete in my final matches here.

The boos rain down on Dolph for betraying WCW.  "You sold out, you sold out" chants begin in earnest.

I can't believe what I'm hearing here Tony, Dolph has been playing us all for fools over the last few weeks.

Yeah Bobby, duh.  I've been saying that ever since this maniac arrived in WCW.

Now, I am going to miss it here a little bit.  I have kind of been the star of the show here.  Multiple title matches.  Double and triple booked for pay per views.  More women than I can count.  But, I'll just have to do the same thing back over in the WWE.  I'm sure Vince, HHH, Stephanie, Brad Maddox, whoever the hell is running the show over there has been watching, and I'm sure they realize that Ziggler is Nitro.

The crowd boos as Dolph steals Jericho's catchphrase.  Flair is leaning against the ropes in disbelief.  Dolph looks over at him.

Don't worry Rickie, I'm getting to you.  Tonight is the last Monday Night Nitro and I'm going to do what I do best, steal the damn show.

As Dolph taunts the audience, Punk, Axel, and Orton enter from the back behind him.  As he speaks, the four of them begin to make their way down towards the ring and Ric Flair.

Uh oh Tony, I don't like the look of this at all, but they can't be doing what I think they're doing right?

Bobby, these narcissists are going to do exactly what you think they're going to do.  I just hope somebody comes out here to stop them.

You see Ric, this is my show, this is our show.  You may have been the money behind it all, but look where that has gotten us.  Maybe these idiots want to take a trip down memory lane with you, but I sure as hell don't want to hear any of it.  The Legion will be moving on to bigger and better things in the WWE, I suggest you do the same thing before something bad happens.

The four men slide into the ring as Flair backs away.  Dolph approaches Flair as the other Legion members circle him.  Dolph gets close to Ric and starts jabbing him in the chest with his finger.

Tonight Rickie my boy, is about us.  It's not about your pathetic attempts to wax poetic.  It's about The Legion leaving our mark on this company.  It's about Dolph Ziggler, the Rising Son, rising to the top.  Tonight, I'm in the main event, AGAIN, and I'm going to blow the roof off this place.  It's about CM Punk proving to everyone that he's the best in the world.  It's about Curtis Axel, a third generation superstar, proving his pedigree inside this ring.  It's about Randy Orton settling the score with that overgrown monkey, Paul Wight.  WCW isn't about old has been's Ric.  I got rid of Booker T a long time ago and you should have learned your lesson.  WCW isn't about washed up grand-dads searching for one last cheap pop from the crowd.  Maybe if you hadn't spent all of your money at bars and strip clubs, this wouldn't be happening Ric, but you did, and it is.  Tonight is historic, but not because WCW is closing it's doors.  Tonight is historic because The Legion shows the wrestling business why they should be afraid.

Dolph pushes Ric, who stumbles back into CM Punk.  Flair turns around surprised and Punk looks at him for a moment before hoisting Flair onto his shoulders and hitting him with the GTS.  Flair crumbles to the ground, a broken man.

Oh my God, this is unconscionable.  That man is a legend and The Legion are treating him like some piece of trash in their way.

Orton, Axel, and Dolph begin stomping on Flair as he lies defenseless in the ring.  Axel and Orton pull Flair to his feet.  Dolph leans in close and gives Flair a little slap on the cheek.  He smirks at the crowd and then hits Flair with a super kick, sending Flair back to the mat.

Orton and Axel begin to kick Flair out of the ring, his body rolling off the apron and onto the floor with a heavy thud.  The four men lean over the ropes and look down at Flair.  They smile at each other and at the crowd.

This is just sickening.  These four men are ruining what should be a celebration of a great company.  Instead, they are turning it into their own personal soapbox.

Each man slides out of the ring, and they make their way back up the ramp, a chorus of boos cascading down on them.  As they walk under the titantron, Ziggler points up.  WCW RIP.  The crowd boos as the show goes to commercial.

+ 5 SP to Dolp

This is what I'm talking about. What a way to close out Dolph Ziggler's WCW career. I think this was some of the best use of commentary I've seen in a promo, on top of that, you brought up some great points and adding Flair into everything was genius idea. Great work, I look forward to your WWF promos alongside Punk and them.
