Subject: Two Titles To Rule Them All Thu Dec 12, 2013 4:23 pm
After what has already been an exciting night of none stop action, the jumbo tron lights up with the image of Kelly Kelly standing in front of a mirror, playing with her blonde hair.
Kelly Kelly
I'm so excited! I can't wait to see you go out there and beat Fandango!
Into the frame comes Cody Rhodes, styling his hair in the mirror.
Cody
Beat him I shall, Kelly. And in doing so, I will become the Undisputed Champion! Both the United States Championship and the Intercontinental Championship, will be mine! Then, I'll walk into Final Resolution and put an end to the joke that is Dolph Ziggler's career!
Kelly Kelly
If you can do that . . . Then you may get one more prize.
Cody looks at Kelly, who's touching his shoulder, then to the camera. He winks and the audience can be heard laughing.
Cody
Well Kelly, wish me luck. (He jumps up and down, slapping both cheeks.) Here I go!
Kelly wishes Cody good luck as he flashes his signature smile, exiting the room.
The crowd goes absolutely nuts as the United States Champion's theme song hits the PA system. The bell rings three times.
Announcer
Ladies and gentleman, this following contest is a ladder match, and it is for, BOTH, the United States Championship AND the Intercontinental Championship! Please welcome, first, from Marietta, Georgia . . .
Cody's heart pounds as the announcers voice fades from his mind. He stares blankly at the thousands of screaming fans, all chanting his name. He then stares down at the ring where both his and Fandango's championships dangle high above it.
Announcer
. . . He is the United States Champion . . . Cody Rhodes!
There's another loud pop as Rhodes throws his hood up over his head, his smile now shown quite clearly. He marches down the ramp, his sole focus on the ring.
The cheers drown out once more as Cody thinks to himself, this is it, this is his one chance to prove that he's got what it takes, his once chance to cement his legacy, to make history. The cheers warp back into play as the son of a son of a plumber climbs the steel steps, caution in each one of his own. He blasts into the ring, full of energy. He rips his jacket off and tosses it to the outside then raises both of his arms into the air, the fans popping at the sight. As his theme song dies down and the arena becomes much quieter, Cody stares up at his title, wanting nothing more than to pull it down.
The steady drumbeat upsets the silence and causes the crowd to rage into a frenzy. Out onto the ramp marches the trio of Zeb Colter, Jack Swagger and Fandango, all with strong looks of determination on their face. The boos don't slow them down any as the trio march towards the ring, Zeb leading the way. Cody, who's crouched down in one of the four corners, watches as Fandango swaggers past the steel steps and hops up onto the apron. He then does his signature leap over the top rope and lands firmly in the ring. Cody stands now, peering into the eyes of his opponent, the man who threatens to take his championship away. After all is said and done, Zeb and Jack exit the ring and adjourn to Fandango's corner, smirks on their confident faces.
"Let's go Cody!"
Rhodes lets slip a small smile as he claps his hands together, the ref checking on both men.
Referee
Are you ready? Are you ready? Okay, let's get it on! Ring the bell!
The bell rings three times, a drop of sweat falls from Cody's chin. They clash almost instantly, Cody managing to get a firm side headlock on Fandango. The REAL American bails out however and switches to the back of Cody, locking in a belly to back hold. One elbow, two elbows, Cody's free! He himself then switches to the back of Fandango and locks in his own belly to back hold. Cody holds on tight for a good while before Fandango escapes beneath Cody's legs. Rhodes turns around and is met with a swift kick to the stomach. Fandango throws Cody's arm over him then lifts him up for a falcon arrow. Zeb and Jack slam on the apron, letting Fandango know they liked that one. The Intercontinental Champion lifts Cody up and nails him with a firm backhand, once, twice, the third one is stopped by Cody who throws Fandango's hand back and hits him in the head with a closed fist. A flurry of punches rain down on Fandango who cowers back into the closest corner. There are no rules, there isn't even a ref! Cody continues his assault with some kicks to the gut. Kick, punch, kick, punch, over and over Cody's rage is let out. He steps back, taking a long breath as the crowd chants his name. He leans down and picks up Fandango, perching him on the top rope. A loud slap to the face sends the fans into a frenzy as Cody joins the ballroom dancer on the top rope. Cody tosses Fandango's arm over his shoulder, but he's stopped by a sharp pain in his side. Fandango's fighting back! Another three punches are thrown into Cody's side before he's pushed back, falling hard onto the canvas. Fandango raises himself up, the fans boo as they know what he's going to attempt next. But Cody lashes out in a sudden burst of energy. He rams himself into the corner, sending the ballroom dancer nut first onto the top turnbuckle. Swagger throws his hands up into the air as Cody moves back in for the kill, wrenching Fandango off the top ropes a slamming him down onto the mat! Muscle buster! The fans go crazy as Cody crawls around a bit before getting to his feet.
He nods his head a few times, visibly staring at one of the many ladders set up outside of the ring. In an effort to obtain the steel deathtrap, Cody slides out of the ring underneath the bottom rope. He then makes his way over to the ladder and folds it together, bringing it along with him into the ring. Once inside he looks around at the crowd and smiles, watching as Fandango attempts to stand up. He cocks the ladder back, ready to drive it into Fandango's face. But as he goes to do this, the REAL American ducks underneath it. The ladder, and Cody, whiz past Fandango, and when he goes to turn back, Fandango is waiting for him with a dropkick. The ladder presses into Cody's stomach, sending him into a hunched over position. A devilish smile appears on the face of Fandango as he slowly walks over to Cody's side. He picks the ladder up and places it right underneath the two dangling titles. He then turns back to Cody, who's still hunched over in pain. He makes his way back over to him, lifting Cody up to his feet and positioning him against the ropes. He then backs up a few steps, launching himself at Rhodes in a blind flurry. The two are sent over the top rope together and both land hard on the outside. Fandango's up rather quickly however, and he hastily reenters the ring in search of his championship gold. Cockily, Fandango walks over to the ladder he previously set up and begins to climb it. Meanwhile, Jack Swagger has positioned himself in front of the downed Cody Rhodes. Swagger taunts him, screaming in his face and slapping the top of his head. Cody finally hears enough of it and he smacks Jack square across the face. He then rushes the ring, looking up at Fandango who's nearly to the top. He has no time to think, he charges the ladder with his shoulder, knocking it and Fandango over.
Cody kneels down and grabs his shoulder in pain, but he saved the match. Fandango is motionless next to the ladder, Jack still holding his face on the outside. Rhodes takes a deep breath the point to the titles, it's time for him to win this thing. He picks up the fallen ladder and props it up once more underneath the championships. He then begins his climb up the ladder, slowly, but with everything he's got. He's joined by Fandango, who has come back to life and is climbing the side opposite to him. Cody's in shock, but he has no time to waste. He climbs faster, as does Fandango. Once they both reach the top, a brawl ensues and eventually, Fandango gets the upper hand. He slams Cody's face into the steel then throws his arm over his shoulder. He holds it there for a moment, contemplating whether to go on with it or not. With the fans chanting and cheering, Fandango lifts Cody up and over the ladder, throwing both men way down to the mat. A loud thud expresses the pain both men are now in. They lay still, the commentators and the fans alike in shock. It's still in the arena, can these men continue? . . .

Cody attempts to lift himself up with both arms, but he quickly falls back down onto the mat. Fandango, who's just a few feet away from Cody, is on his knees. He grabs the ropes where he's met by Jack Swagger. Swagger barks a few orders at him, pointing to the downed ladder that's in the ring. Cody uses the ropes to his advantage and pulls himself up to his feet. The fans cheer as both men are now back up, the show will go on! Almost simultaneously, both Fandango and Cody turn around and nearly bump right into each other. Lefts and rights are thrown as the two battle for control of the ladder that's just next to them. Cody gains a small advantage, kicking Fandango in the stomach then dropping down to deliver a massive slap to his face. The ballroom dancer falls back against the ropes, launching himself right into the arms of Cody who grabs both of his legs and throws him over his shoulders. Alabama slam! Fandango's head smacks the canvas, sending his real American pals and the audience into a frenzy. Cody takes a moment to catch his breath, wiping the sweat from his forehead with his taped wrist. He then turns to Jack and Zeb, laughing at them as he turns over the fallen ladder. He makes sure it's perfectly aligned with titles hanging above before attempting to climb it. One rung, two rungs, Rhodes pulls his sore body up the ladder one rung at a time. Meanwhile, Zeb can be heard shouting at Jack on the outside of the ring. He points to Cody, who's nearly at the top of the ladder. Swagger nods and quickly rushes the ring, sliding underneath the bottom rope. He makes his way over to the opposite side of ladder and begins to climb. Cody looks down and shakes his head, panting heavily. He waits for Jack to reach the top, blasting him in the face with a nasty right. Jack returns the favor with a right of his own, nearly sending Cody flying back off the ladder. Another brawl breaks out atop the ladder, but this time it's Cody who takes control. A sharp elbow staggers the REAL Americans, a second one sends him down one rung. Cody smiles as moves up the ladder a small bit and grabs Swaggers head. He brings Jack back up to the top, then blasts him with another elbow before wrenching his head under his armpit. Rhodes shouts something from atop the ladder, sending his fans to their feet as he pulls Jack off the ladder and the two sore threw the air, Jacks head meeting the mat with high impact. "Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit!" These chants fill the arena as Cody backs up into a corner, holding his shoulder once again. He cries out in pain, but he knows he has to take advantage of this opportunity. He stares at the ladder before making his move.
With both the REAL Americans down and Zeb pacing back and forth near the announcers table, Cody once again begins his climbs up the steel giant. He realizes something is wrong when he's about half way up the ladder and the fans begin to boo heavily. He looks around, but before he can find out what's going on, both of his legs are pulled through one of the rungs on the ladder. Fandango has trapped Cody! The United States champion tries to escape, but every time he makes an attempt, the cold steel scratches and scrapes his legs and torso. He let's out another cry as Fandango, who's got the biggest smile imaginable, begins to climb up the ladder. But the so called 'REAL' American is taking his grand old time. He takes easily six second to step up onto each rung. The entire time he's looking down at Cody, who's still trying to break free of the ladders deadly grasp. Zeb's pacing has come to a stop as he is now jumping up and down, cheering for his client. The commentary team is going nuts, the fans are letting their voices be heard as Fandango nears the top of the ladder. He's there now, his smile gone. He simply stares at the two titles that are dangling in front if his face, reaching out to grab the first one. He holds the United States Championship in his hands, taking a deep breath. Cody is now flailing every which way, pounding on the ladder, screaming up at the man who's about to steal his championship. Fandango's smile returns as he cockily unhooks the belt, raising it up for all to see. Fandango is the NEW United States Champion! The negative response from the fans is almost deafening as Zeb throws his arms up into the air. But everyone's attitude quickly changes as Cody pulls himself out from the rung he was caught in. The cuts and bruises on his stomach don't slow him down any, he will NOT let Fandango walk out with both of the title belts. With every bit of strength he has left over, Rhodes climbs up the ladder, Fandango panicking as he gets closer and closer. The new United States Champion quickly tries to unhook his Intercontinental championship, but to no avail! Cody's at the top, and he wastes no time ripping the title from Fandango's hands and bashing his over the face with it. The ballroom dancer falls down to canvas, the United States championship tossed to the outside of the ring. Cody's got the belt in his hands, he shouts out as he unhooks it! Cody Rhodes is the new Intercontinental champion!
DING DING DING!
The arena is the loudest it's been all night as Cody Rhodes stands atop the ladder with his new championship in his hands. Zeb can't believe it, his eyes are wide open and his jaw might as well be dropped as he stares up at the man who just took his clients title. There may not be a unified champion, but history sure has been made as these two just went through hell to win each others championships!
Announcer
. . . Here are your . . . ugh, winners! And new . . . Champions . . . Fandango, and Cody Rhodes!
Cody, in no rush, makes his way back down the ladder, his new title in tow. He then ascends to the top rope of one of the four corners and shows off his new prize, his fans cheering all the while.
With Fandango still knocked out in the center of the ring, the referee lays his new championship over his chest. He may have won the United States championship, as he wanted, but he lost his Intercontinental championship in the process. Cody, however, doesn't seem to mind either way as he exits the ring, holding his shoulder in pain. He holds up his championship one last time, the camera zooming in on him before Raw cuts to a commercial break.
(Promo closed. The ending was kind of rushed, sorry about that, but I'd still like some feedback!)
